Guggenheim Fellowship Mosse is a recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship 2011 which will enable him to continue to work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This fellowship award includes a generous supplemental stipend from the Leon Levy Foundation. Aperture Magazine Sublime Proximity: in conversation with Richard Mosse, an eight page interview with Aaron Schuman is featured in issue 203 (summer 2011) of Aperture Magazine. Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, has recently acquired a large piece from the Infra series which will be exhibited as part of The Big Reveal on display Sept 23 - Dec 24 2011. Nelson-Atkins Museum of Contemporary Art Pool at Uday’s Palace is currently on display as part of the Hallmark Photographic Collection in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City. Weatherspoon Art Museum The Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro North Carolina will host a solo show of work from Infra from Jan 14–Apr 15, 2012. Mosse will also lead the Falk Visiting Artist Residency in April 2012. Union Art Gallery, University of Wisconsin Recent work will be exhibited as part of a show at Union Art Gallery, University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, exploring the language of photography. Other artists will include Broomberg & Chanarin and Emily Jacir, Autumn 2011. Work Gallery, University of Michigan Theatre of War will be exhibited as part of Topophilia, curated by Kayla Romberger and Alisha Wessler. Topophilia is based on the writings of geographer Yi-Fu Tuan. Sep–Oct 2011. Work Gallery is part of the School of Art & Design of the University of Michigan. SFMOMA Artists Gallery Monique Delaunay and Renée de Cossio have selected Mosse’s work for Amid A Space Between: Irish Artists in America, showing at SFMOMA Artists Gallery Mar 8–Apr 19, 2012. Dublin Contemporary A wide selection of recent work from Infra will be exhibited as part of Dublin Contemporary 2011 in Earlsfort Terrace. Dublin Contemporary is a new quintennial for the visual arts curated by Christian Viveros–Fauné and Jota Castro. The exhibition includes work by Thomas Hirschhorn, Omer Fast, Jim Lambie, and others. This year’s title is Terrible Beauty—Art, Crisis, Change & The Office of Non-Compliance. 6 Sep–31 Oct 2011. Dublin Gallery of Photography C–47 Alberta will be exhibited as part of The Long View at Dublin’s Gallery of Photography July 1–Aug 28 2011, including work from Paul Seawright, Donovan Wylie and others. This show is part of PhotoIreland Festival directed by Angel Luis Gonzalez and Moritz Neumüller. Paris Photo The Empty Quarter Dubai will be taking a selection of works from Infra to Paris Photo in November 2011. Belfast Exposed A large selection of work from Infra will be exhibited in a solo show at Belfast Exposed in Northern Ireland, spring 2012. Open Eye Liverpool A solo show of works from the Infra series will be exhibited at Liverpool’s newly reopened Open Eye Gallery in spring 2012. Rossini’s Semiramide Set designer Nigel Lowery has been working with imagery from Breach to form the actual stage of Rossini’s Semiramide. Photographs of the Iraqi dictator’s ruined palaces form a counterpoint to the opera’s ancient Babylonian narrative. The photographs are enlarged to approx 30x50 feet and layered to create spatial depth. The production debuted in Dec 2010 in the Vlaamse Opera, Antwerp, and will travel to the Edinburgh Festival in summer 2011, and the Royal Danish Opera in 2012. Palais de Tokyo Video works are being broadcast on Souvenirs from Earth, an independent television station dedicated exclusively to film and video art, broadcasting throughout France and Germany. Souvenirs from Earth is also exhibiting these works in a permanent installation at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Contributing artists include Rodney Graham, Johan Grimonprez, Julian Opie and Bill Viola.
